The Gardens at Columbus Park

Taylor Commercial, Inc. recently installed siding on a new multi-family construction project in Columbus, GA. Hathaway Construction Services began the construction of the Gardens at Columbus Park apartment complex in April of 2010. For this project, Taylor Commercial installed Certainteed primed lap siding and pre-stained NichiShake shingles on 224 apartment units, four carriage buildings, a clubhouse, a carwash/garage and one mail kiosk. Taylor Commercial quickly and efficiently completed the $865,000 project to the satisfaction of Hathaway Construction Services, a general contractor with whom Taylor has worked since 2007.

"Taylor has proven themselves as a highly competent, quality and safety oriented contractor," said a representative from Hathaway. "All projects were completed in the most professional manner without delay in schedule."

Taylor Commercial completed the Gardens at Columbus Park siding project in June of 2010.

Ridgeway Apartments

Taylor Commercial, Inc. recently completed a total interior and exterior renovation at Ridgeway Apartments in Madisonville, Tennessee. Constructed in 1975, the 36-year-old property consists of 24 units, all of which were completely gutted during the $1.215 million renovation. Taylor Commercial's Renovation Division Vice President Ray Dotson, who oversees all aspects of the company's multi-family housing restoration operations, felt a visible change occurred in the apartments.

"The renovation is such a drastic improvement from the pre-renovated conditions that several of the residents fell to their knees and wept as they saw their renovated units for the first time," said Dotson. He attributed a great portion of the project's success to Ashley Sweat, the project superintendent at Ridgeway Apartments, stating that Ashley exemplified the Taylor brand of quality while on the job site.

Taylor Commercial, Inc. completed the project on Feb. 5 to the satisfaction of the property owner, Prestwick Development and Hallmark Management.

Committed to Community

Taylor Commercial, Inc. and its employees strive to give back to the local community through a variety of events and service projects. In November 2010, Taylor Commercial, Inc. joined with SERV Ministries International for the Fourth Annual Sporting Clay Fundraiser in Dawsonville, GA. Taylor Commercial participated at two individual sponsor levels and purchased additional raffle tickets to support the event. SERV Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that focuses on improving the lives of orphaned and impoverished children, both domestically and internationally. In December 2010, Taylor Commercial's employees served at the North Fulton Community Charities, restocking distribution areas and sorting incoming food items and supplies. NFCC is a local, non-profit human service agency that has assisted families with basic needs such as food, rent and clothing during short-term emergencies since 1983.

Taylor Commercial also partnered with another local company, Greene Building Supply, to support Forsyth County Family Haven during the 2010 holiday season. The two companies and their employees adopted four families, providing toys for the children and gift cards for each of the mothers. Forsyth County Family Haven is a non-profit organization that provides victims of violence and their families with a continuous availability of services including shelter, food, clothing and counseling. Taylor Commercial also joined with Greene Building Supply for the annual Toys for Tots drive. This year, employees from both companies donated more than 50 gifts for the campaign.

BOOK NOOK

Are You Topgrading?
Ross Haynes, Vice President/COO

At Taylor Commercial, we place an extremely high value on personal development for our employees. Each month, we read books as a company and discuss the books at our monthly staff meetings. To this point, no book has impacted our business in the way that Topgrading (by Bradford D. Smart, Ph.D.) has. Topgrading is an approach for hiring, developing, promoting and retaining A players in your organization. A players are the "best of class" which make up the top 10 percent of talent available at all salary levels. Most companies today should expect at least a 75% failure rate in hiring and promotions, meaning that only 1 out of 4 individuals hired or promoted through the standard methods turns out to be an A player. EMPLOYEE FOCUS

Jeff Bryan

Jeff Bryan joined the Taylor Commercial steam in 2010 as a chief estimator. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, Jeff gained a degree in Construction Science and immediately started an internship with Worthing Southeast Builders, where he later was hired as a full-time estimator. Jeff worked with Worthing for the next ten years, progressing from an estimator to an assistant project manager and finally to a project manager. Unfortunately, the economic downturn that hit in 2008 led to the elimination of Jeff's position with Worthing. He accepted another position as a project manager with Moyer Development in January of 2009, but after six months Jeff's position again was cut due to the poor economy. During this time, Jeff enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time with his family. He and his wife of 11 years have twins who are 4 1/2 years old. Jeff also did outside storm-damaged roofing sales and general carpentry work during this time. Taylor Commercial and two other companies contacted Jeff regarding full-time employment, but he chose to begin the interview process with Taylor because of his attraction to the family-based ideals and smaller structure. An offer was made, and Jeff joined the Taylor team.

IF JEFF COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD...
"I would most likely choose Australia. I have always been fascinated with the continent and its diverse climate regions (rain forests, deserts, mountains, and beaches), its remote location, beauty, and culture."
