Woodfield Creekstone Apartments

Taylor Commercial’s Siding Division recently completed a 256 unit and amenity building project in Durham, North Carolina.

Woodfield Creekstone Apartments is a brand new garden-style apartment community, located in the heart of the Research Triangle in Durham. Taylor Commercial performed as the siding and exterior trim contractor on this project and completed the work in December 2012, in just over 6 months. This project is unique with respect to the combination of James Hardie fiber cement panel siding and trims that is designed in a mixed array, including panel wall accents and traditional board & batten siding.

The general contractor for Woodfield Creekstone Apartments was CF Evans & Company, Inc., an award-winning general contracting firm founded in 1948, specializing in multifamily housing and apartments. They are based out of Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The two companies and their employees adopted three families, providing toys and clothing for the children, as well as gift cards for the mothers. Forsyth County Family Haven is a non-profit organization that provides victims of domestic violence and their families with a continuous availability of services, including safe emergency shelter, food, clothing, counseling services, support groups and a prevention education program.

Taylor Commercial, Inc. also joined with Greene Building Supply for the annual Toys for Tots drive. This year, employees from both companies donated more than 50 gifts for the campaign.

Both companies were also pleased to support North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) this holiday season, by volunteering as a group to prepare the holiday gift distribution site where families in need could pick up donated gifts and supplies.

EMPLOYEE FOCUS

Maegan Lang

Maegan Lang currently serves as the Accounting Assistant for Taylor Commercial. Maegan came on board over a year ago and her duties include accounts payable and project administration. She loves the variety of tasks and responsibilities she is assigned and enjoys working with the Taylor and GBS teams.

Through high school and college she worked at bookstores and attended college at California State University Sacramento, thinking she would go back to retail management when she graduated. After performing a wide variety of tasks with her first “desk job” at her college’s Student Government, she realized that retail was great – but not what she wanted to do anymore. Post-college graduation, she moved to Atlanta and worked for another construction company briefly before joining Taylor Commercial.

Maegan currently lives in Vinings, which is close to all of her favorite things: bookstores, coffee shops, great food, friends and family, and her church.

Book Nook

As a part of our continuing education series this quarter, the Taylor Commercial team read “The Go-Giver,” a business parable by Bob Burg & John David Mann.

From the authors’ website:

“The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be. Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving—putting others’ interests first and continually adding value to their lives—ultimately leads to unexpected returns. Imparted with wit and grace, The Go-Giver is a heartwarming and inspiring tale that brings new relevance to the old proverb 'Give and you shall receive.'”
